CDFI Fund Releases FY 2009 Performance and Accountability Report

Publication Documents Strong Performance and Results in 2009

March 24, 2010

Washington, DC – The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) today announced the release of its fiscal year (FY) 2009 Performance and Accountability Report, an important annual publication that comprehensively assesses the operations of the CDFI Fund.

“This Performance and Accountability Report documents our role at the center of economic recovery efforts in low-income communities in a year of truly extraordinary challenges for our country,” said CDFI Fund Director Donna J. Gambrell. “The significant efforts of the CDFI Fund in addressing the economic crisis have not only directly helped to revitalize the economy in underserved communities that need it most, but have also laid the foundation for expanded impact and future growth for the industry.”

A year of tremendous responsibility, FY 2009 saw unprecedented funding levels for the CDFI Fund through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act , the certification of 55 new CDFIs and the creation of a new Capacity-Building Initiative and Office of Training and Outreach within the CDFI Fund.

The CDFI Fund eagerly anticipates building upon the successes highlighted in the FY 2009 Performance and Accountability Report to improve its performance and will continue to execute its expanded mission with distinction.
