Treasury Official to Join Senator Bingaman to Announce Over $10 Million in Awards to Native American Lenders

Awards will stimulate economic growth through Native Community Development Financial Institutions

April 29, 2010

Washington, DC – The Director of the Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), Donna J. Gambrell, will join U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman in Albuquerque, New Mexico to announce over $10 million in awards for Native CDFIs committed to serving economically distressed Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian Communities across the nation. The awards are being made under the 2010 round of the CDFI Fund’s Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) Program. This national award announcement will occur at 2:30 PM MDT on Friday, April 30 at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

About the Native American CDFI Assistance (NACA) Program
NACA is the funding component of the CDFI Fund’s Native Initiatives, a program designed to help overcome barriers preventing access to credit, capital and financial services in Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian communities. NACA is targeted to increasing the number and capacity of existing or new Native CDFIs.
