CDFI Fund Seeks Public Comment on CDFI/CDE Project Profile Web Form

July 27, 2010

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of the Treasury, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing information collections, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Pub. L. No. 104-13 (44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), an office within the Department of the Treasury, is soliciting comments concerning the CDFI Fund’s “CDFI/CDE Project Profile Web Form.”

This voluntary collection of narrative descriptions of projects financed by CDFI Fund awardees and allocatees via the “CDFI/CDE Project Profile Web Form” is in response to the public’s request for better and more narrative information on impact and best practices associated with all of the CDFI Fund’s programs. The purpose is to more fully describe and record the innovative approaches community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and community development entities (CDEs) use in revitalizing communities and serving families.

The current web form may be found on the CDFI Fund’s website. The CDFI Fund proposes adding four additional check boxes to reflect new programs it now administers, and rewording or adding clarifying language to the narrative questions for easier comprehension. These proposed changes are in red in the static version of the web form that can be viewed here.

Written comments should be received on or before September 27, 2010, to be assured of consideration. Comments submitted in response to this notice will be summarized and/or included in the request for approval from the Office of Management and Budget. All comments will become a matter of public record.

Comments are invited about:

  1. Whether the collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility
  2. The accuracy of the agency’s estimate of the burden of the collection of information
  3. Ways to enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to be collected
  4. Ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents, including through the use of technology

Please direct all comments on the Project Profiles submission form in writing to: Kimberly Beauman, Legislative and External Affairs Specialist, CDFI Fund, U.S. Department of the Treasury, 601 13th Street, NW, Suite 200 South, Washington, DC 20005 or by facsimile to (202) 622–8728.
