Announcements Overview The Capacity Building Initiative will greatly expand technical assistance and training opportunities for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) nationwide and significantly boost the ability of CDFIs to deliver financial products and services to underserved communities. | Industry-wide training targets key issues currently affecting CDFIs and the communities they serve, including affordable housing and business lending, portfolio management, risk assessment, foreclosure prevention, training in CDFI business processes, and assistance with liquidity and capitalization challenges. The Initiative also offers direct technical assistance and individualized capacity-building plans and focuses on extending CDFI coverage to underserved communities, especially in rural areas. | To carry out the Initiative's objectives, the CDFI Fund has engaged established community development firms to provide training and technical assistance. More information can be found in the individual overviews below. Capacity Building Initiative Resource Banks As part of the Capacity Building Initiative, the CDFI Fund will be providing Resource Banks that contain training materials, expert documents, archived webinars, and links to relevant outside information. Resource Banks are available on a variety of topic areas, including past training series.

This series supports the continued growth and long-term sustainability of experienced Native CDFIs by providing the forum, tools, and resources for Native CDFI leaders to identify and address the critical challenges of their organizations. Training, technical assistance, executive coaching and specialized resources are available to participants. | | | | Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP will provide the Innovations in Small Business Lending series. The series will support business-oriented CDFIs that are experienced in providing loans and services to small and medium-sized enterprises. Participants will have access to training and customized technical assistance designed to increase services to small businesses and explore new market opportunities. | | | | Opportunity Finance Network will provide the Scaling Up Microfinance series. The series will expand the capacity of CDFIs that specialize in microfinance through an advanced training and technical assistance program focused on decreasing costs, building human capital, and improving business models in order to attract investments. | | | | Opportunity Finance Network will provide the Strengthening Small and Emerging CDFIs series.
