If you visit our web site to browse, or to read or download information, we collect and store the following information about you:
The name of the domain from which you access the Internet (for example,aol.com, if you are connecting from an America Online account);The date and time you access our site;The Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our site;The type of browser and operating system used to access our site; and The pages you visit on the web site.
CDFI records the IP address and time of visit for everyone visiting the CDFI site (www.cdfifund.gov). If a visitor also logs into myCDFI, we record the height and width of his computer monitor. The screen size information is used to tailor the display of the web site to the individual monitor. The IP address and time are recorded due to the manufacturer's default settings on our web server. We do not, at present, utilize this information. It could, however, be useful in analyzing and responding to a security threat to our site, especially a ping or other denial of service attack.
This web site uses “cookies” only to maintain a connection with the user to insure the user receives a response. Examples include: submission of a comment to the webmaster and searching the web site. The cookie is immediately deleted upon leaving the site. The temporary cookie contains a system generated identification only – no information about the anonymous user is kept. CDFI does not use persistent cookies or any other means to track a visitor's activity on the internet.
For site management, information is collected for statistical purposes. This Government computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which are used for such purposes as assessing the number of visitors to the different sections of our web site, what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. No information subject to the Privacy Act, such as name and address, is collected or used for this analysis. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration Guidance. We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our web site, unless you voluntarily choose to provide such information to us by e-mail, or other on-line form. Information collected in this manner is used solely for responding to requests for information or records. We will not give, sell or transfer personal information to third parties, unless required by law, such as the Freedom of Information Act. Except for authorized law enforcement, homeland security, and national security investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits.
