Update: CDFI Fund Certification Webinar Recordings on Customized Investment Areas and Affiliates Released
Earlier this month, the Community Development Financial Institution Fund’s (CDFI Fund) Office of Certification Policy and Evaluation (OCPE) hosted two webinars focused on Customized Investment Area Target Market types on July 10th and Affiliates on July 24th. The webinar recordings and presentation slides are now available on the CDFI Fund’s website.
The Customized Investment Area webinar began with an overview of Investment Areas in general, covering the geographic eligibility and distinction for each Investment Area type. Staff also outlined the relevant activity thresholds required for CDFIs to use activity directed to Customized Investment Areas and Non-Metro Customized Investment Areas in the Target Market benchmark assessment.
The Affiliates webinar focused on how Affiliated organizations impact the CDFI Certification Application process. The presentation began with an overview of which Affiliates are relevant in the CDFI Certification process, including definitions of key terms, and an explanation of how the CDFI Fund identifies Controlling relationships among Affiliates. Additionally, staff outlined the specific CDFI Certification criteria that apply when Affiliates are involved, including requirements related to Primary Mission and the collective review of Affiliated entities.
